The First and Second Blow

NUMEROVENTI was pleased to present The First and Second Blow, a production exhibition by Kasia Fudakowski showcasing the body of works produced during her two residencies in Florence, where she explored glass blowing techniques in the area of Colle di Val d’Elsa. The exhibition was inaugurated on December 2nd and was on view until January 12th.


Drawing from the tradition of physical learning and cross-generational knowledge, the exhibition retraced the production history of the Grandmother’s series, a body of works resulting from the collaboration with Collevilca Glass Studio (The First Blow) in July 2023 and with Duccio di Segna (The Second Blow) in September 2023.


The exhibition consisted of various vessels, including vases, bowls, jugs, and lamps, where glass was blown into steel structures created by the artist. Combining inflated ‘fragile’ glass and welded ‘strong’ steel, Fudakowski emphasised the strength of acquired wisdom and overflowing generosity, while also acknowledging the fragility of age and the limiting obligations of gender embodied in the figure of the grandmother.
